Toronto, le 29 novembre 2005 – La photographe Raymonde April, qui est établie à Montréal, est la récipiendaire de 2005 du Prix Paul de Hueck et Norman Walford de réalisation professionnelle en photographie artistique, lequel s’accompagne d’une bourse de 35 000 dollars.

The McIntyre Ranch Project

Organized by the Southern Alberta Art Gallery. Funding assistance from the City of Lethbridge, Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and The Canada Council for the Arts.
In 1990, when a group of prominent Canadian artists toured the Oldman River by raft and canoe, they spent a brief sojourn at the historical McIntyre Ranch, located 35 miles east of Cardston, near Magrath, Alberta. One year later, when they returned for the opening of the Oldman River Expedition Exhibition, many of them accepted an invitation to revisit the ranch. Thus, during the second week of July 1991, thirteen artists from coast to coast – sculptures, photographers and painters in oil and watercolour – enjoyed the hospitality of the Thrall family while exploring the ranch’s 55,000 acre panorama and recording it in sketches, drawings, photographs and memory. Thirteen years later, in the summer of 2004, eighteen artists, writers and a filmmaker, a few of whom had participated in the previous gatherings,joined to share a week of inspiration in this unique locale. The work from that experience has resulted in the second McIntyre Ranch Project exhibition.

«Ce livre et cette exposition sont nés d’une rencontre : il y a environ deux ans, Bernard Crespin, mentionnant l’importance qu’il accordait à l’autoportrait dans son travail récent, me faisait part de son envie de montrer plusieurs artistes qui l’intéressaient, dont plusieurs étaient peu connus. De mon côté, je désirais depuis longtemps présenter d’autres artistes qui travaillaient entre autres sur l’autoreprésentation. Aussi ai-je répondu favorablement à son souhait en lui proposant de concevoir ensemble autour de cette question une exposition que nous avons décidé d’intituler À visages découverts. »
